Lisbon: An enticing and beautiful city
Lisbon is a place that I have never had any real desire to visit until the offer arose to spend a long weekend visiting the well-cultured Capital of Portugal. I jumped at the opportunity, excited to explore a new city although skeptical that Lisbon didn’t have a lot to offer me. How very wrong I was!
As soon as I witnessed the incredibly bright and uplifting architecture of Lisbon, I knew that this city had a lot more to offer than I initially expected. The sun shone profusely, highlighting all the wonderful monuments and radiant coloured houses. This was unlike any other city that I have previously visited. Beautiful, yellow trams run all the way through the city with some of the oldest trams dating back to the 1930’s. These trams are still in place all over Lisbon and are particularly popular with tourists who can adventure through the old, narrow cobble streets of the city which the new, modern trams are unable to visit.
Lisbon is a lively city with many bars and restaurants that are eager to welcome you into their establishments along with a long list of must see tourist attractions. Lisbon’s main square, Praça do Comércio, is a wonderful place to visit with entertainment running through the whole square. However, if that isn’t your type of enjoyment, there are many stunning bars and restaurants to be found, overlooking the golden, sandy beach.
There is something for everyone in Lisbon and I would highly recommend a visit to this bustling, Portuguese Capital. Below is a list of some of the tourist hot spots of Lisbon as well as a short gallery of some of the beautiful scenery that you are guaranteed to witness whilst exploring the city.
