List of my Top 3 Budget Friendly destinations
1.) Prague, Czech Republic
First on the list is the beautiful city of Prague. I couldn’t believe how affordable Prague was when I visited. We had some of the most delicious 2 course meals, served with an alcoholic drink each, for less than €20 for two people. There are also lots of free activities that you can participate in. These include taking a walk to the John Lennon wall or experiencing walking across the famous Charles Bridge. Alongside visiting the incredible astronomical clock, which is the oldest working astronomical clock in the world. The city also has great transportation links and wherever you go in Prague, you are guaranteed to find a bargain.
2.) Kraków, Poland
Kraków is still to this day one of my favourite destinations that I have travelled to. There is so much to see and do in Kraków and the history hidden within the city is something that needs appreciating. Whilst it isn’t as cheap as Prague and Sofia, Kraków deserves the second spot for the incredible variety of inexpensive things to do and see around the city. We went on a vodka tour within Kraków that was very good value for money. The tour can be found on Tripadvisor here. This tour is still one of my favourite excursions that I have been on. The price of beer was also very reasonable, especially considering that the beers were bigger than my head. Picture below for proof!
3.) Sofia, Bulgaria
Sofia is a very affordable city with lots of beautiful sights to see, as well as some of the best food that I have ever eaten. We stayed in a 5* hotel for less than €130 for 2 nights which was amazing value for money. The restaurants are extremely affordable and the food is absolutely delicious. Some of my top picks for sights to see in Sofia are the National Palace of Culture, the Ancient Ruins and of course, the extremely impressive and stunning architecture of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. In conclusion, there are many ways to visit a city on a budget and budget-friendly travel doesn’t have to mean sacrificing luxury or adventure. My favourite city to visit out of those mentioned on this list, is Sofia. I truly believe that you are sure to love a trip to Bulgaria’s capital. You will be particularly surprised by how little money is needed for a weekend trip!
I also want to give a special mention to Marrakesh which, unfortunately just missed out on making my top 3. Marrakesh is also a very inexpensive and beautiful city that is destined to be explored🛩
