Sofia in Pictures
Sofia is a stunning, affordable and historical city that is eager to be explored. Below I have shared some of my favourite pictures from my time in Sofia so you too, can discover the beauty of Sofia in pictures.
Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral
Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is one of Sofia’s most iconic landmarks. This massive Orthodox cathedral is known for its stunning golden domes and richly decorated interiors. This was by far one of the most stunning cathedrals that I have had the pleasure to see. Somehow, it’s even more awe-inspiring in person!

The National Palace of Culture
This multi-purpose cultural and conference center is the largest of its kind in Southeast Europe. Opened in 1981, it hosts concerts, exhibitions, and international events. Its modernist architecture is a striking contrast to Sofia’s historical buildings. There are also lots of fountains surrounding the building and whilst I imagine it is particularly beautiful in Summer, there was something quite calming about seeing the building sit amongst snow in the Winter.

Restaurants in Sofia
We visited some incredible restaurants in Sofia with the tastiest food! I unfortunately didn’t get a picture of my dinner but I had a truffle lasagne that was genuinely the nicest food that I have ever had! Experiencing the incredible food is definitely a good reason to pay Sofia a visit.

Archeological reserve “Ulpia Serdica”
An open-air archeological site, “Ulpia Serdica” showcases the remains of the ancient Roman city that once stood on Sofia’s grounds. Here we saw preserved streets and buildings, which offered a glimpse into the city’s rich Roman past.
