Radisson Blu Seaside Hotel, Helsinki Review

We were lucky enough to stay in the incredible 4* Radisson Blu Seaside Hotel over the New Year period. This hotel is in a prime location, a short walk away from the main Helsinki square which is also accessible by public transportation. The transportation links to Radisson Blu Seaside Hotel is phenomenal, making a lot of this incredible city accessible, as well as being the perfect base for a trip to Tallinn, Estonia.

We arrived at the hotel by metro from Helsinki Airport and walked from the metro to the hotel, which was a nice scenic route. When we arrived at the hotel, we were politely greeted by the reception staff who informatively explained the amenities of the hotel and have us all of the important information, such as breakfast/dinner times. As you enter, there is a stunning lounge area with comfortable seats and large glass windows, which made me particularly excited to view our room.

We were given a somewhat isolate room located on the top floor of the building which provided beautiful views overlooking the outside marina. The room was extremely spacious and the bed was especially comfortable and added to the exceptional comfort of our stay. The bathroom was a decent size and was fully equipped with a walk in shower, bath, toilet and sink which were all very clean and modern looking. We had a large terrace that provided us with incredible views of fireworks on New Years Eve. The room came equipped with teas, coffees and hot chocolates, which we thoroughly enjoyed during our stay. I personally would give the room a 8/10 as it had everything that you would want from a standard room.

The location is one of the main reasons why we decided on this hotel. It is close enough to the main area of Helsinki that you could comfortably walk to town within 20 minutes and the walk has some lovely restaurants and cafes situated along the route. When we booked this hotel, we knew that we wanted to visit Tallinn during our stay in Helsinki, therefore it was important to book a hotel in a decent proximity to Helsinki Ferry port. It took us roughly 20 minutes to walk to the ferry port.

My fiancé and I are keen walkers which is why we often opt to walk when we can, although there are also great transportation links and the journey from the hotel to the ferry port by taxi would take around 5 minutes. For location I personally am going to give Radisson Blu Seaside Hotel a 10/10 because it was the perfect location for our itinerary, however if you are aiming to stay around the main area of Helsinki only, then you may prefer to opt for a more central location.

Breakfast was included in our room type when we booked and it did not disappoint. There was a decent selection of cold and hot food as well as pastries and fruit. The dining area got particularly busy when we were there but guests were able to take food to the rooms or sit out in the lounge area which meant that there was enough space for everybody to enjoy. There was also good choices of drinks including smoothies and different types of flavoured water. For the breakfast alone, I would rate the food 7/10 because there is room for improvement regarding some of the temperatures of food but overall, breakfast was always a pleasant experience and helped to start our day in a positive way.

Radisson Blu is a trusted hotel chain that I personally feel is an ideal hotel chain for a base location when exploring a new city. You know what you are going to get with any Radisson Blu Hotels and Helsinki’s seaside hotel is no different. Overall, our stay was a pleasant and enjoyable experience and I would definitely stay in this hotel if I were to visit Helsinki again.
