Best Bars & Restaurants in Amman: Top 3 Must-Visit Spots

Amman might surprise you. Beneath the city’s historical ruins, souks and steep hills lies a social scene that’s vibrant, welcoming, and absolutely worth exploring! After a day out wandering the Citadel or losing yourself in the chaos of Downtown, there’s no better way to unwind than with great food, a cold drink, and a view to match. On my recent trip to Jordan, I had the chance to explore some of the best bars & restaurants in Amman, and 3 places in particular stood out.

Whether you’re after a laid-back vibe, authentic local cuisine, or a rooftop view that you’ll never forget, these are the spots that you need on your radar.

1. Nirvana: A Chilled Vibe Oasis on Rainbow Street

First up on my must-visit list is Nirvana. If you’re looking for the perfect spot to kick back and relax after a day of sightseeing, this is it. Located right on the ever-popular Rainbow Street, Nirvana is an ideal choice for a chill drink as the evening winds down.

What makes Nirvana stand out? It’s all about the atmosphere. You’ll immediately notice the super friendly vibes and a fun atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. It’s the kind of place where you can comfortably recap your day’s adventures, share stories, and simply soak in the local, vibrant atmosphere. And for those who appreciate a good beer, you absolutely have to try their Petra beer. It’s absolutely delicious, although it does come with a high price tag so if you’re on a budget, I would recommend sticking to one of their many delicious soft drinks.

Whether you’re flying solo, with a partner, or a group of friends, Nirvana offers a welcoming environment to enjoy a relaxed moment in Amman.

2. Mijana Restaurant: A Taste of Authentic Jordanian Cuisine

Next on our culinary exploration, prepare to be enchanted by Mijana Restaurant. This place isn’t just about eating; it’s an experience for the senses. From the moment you step inside, you’ll be struck by how truly gorgeous it is. Mijana embraces traditional Jordanian decor, transporting you into a world of rich heritage and cultural beauty. Imagine intricate designs, warm lighting, and an ambience that perfectly complements the authentic flavours on offer.

And speaking of flavours, the food at Mijana is simply unreal!! We went for chicken shawarma and lamb kebab, alongside lots of soft drinks including a snickers milkshake, a lemon ice tea and a guava juice! There was so much to choose from that we of course couldn’t just have the one drink each, so take it from me, everything that we consumed was absolutely delicious and I often spend my evenings craving the food from this traditional Jordanian restaurant (as well as constantly dreaming about the snickers milkshake of course).

I was also pleasantly surprised by the price of the food especially considering how delicious everything was! Our bill came to 33 Jordanian Dinar for 2 mains, a bread basket and 4 soft drinks (one being the deliciously, thick snickers milkshake). This seemed very affordable to me and is definitely a bargain for the tastiness of the food.

If you’re eager to delve deep into authentic Jordanian cuisine in a setting that’s as beautiful as the food is delicious, Mijana Restaurant is an unmissable destination.

3. District Urban Rooftop: Catching That Golden Hour Glow

Want that Instagram-worthy Amman skyline shot? Head to District Urban Rooftop Bar just before sunset.

This was hands-down one of the most memorable evenings of my trip. As the golden hour light spilled across the rooftops, the view of the city glowing in soft pinks and oranges was absolutely breathtaking. With chilled music playing and a drink in hand, it was the perfect way to slow down and soak it all in.

Beyond the mesmerising vistas, District Urban Rooftop also boasts great food, ensuring your dining experience is as satisfying as the scenery. And to top it all off, you’ll encounter some of the friendliest staff that you could hope to meet on your trip. Their warm hospitality perfectly complements the incredible views and delicious offerings, creating a memorable experience that combines stunning aesthetics with excellent service and cuisine.

If you only visit one bar while in Amman, make it this one.
