Scratch Trip: My newest Travel obsession

Scratch maps are one of my favourite forms of travel memorabilia and I particularly enjoy scratching off the places that I have visited and seeing a once grey/colourless map turn into a stunning mixture of colour. So, allow me to introduce my newest travel obsession: Scratch Trip.

What is Scratch Trip?

I have recently come across Scratch Trip which is a company that creates scratch maps and cards based on popular cities throughout Europe. Being a European traveller, I felt that I needed to make these scratch cards my new travel essential and I can assure you that when they arrived, they did not disappoint!

The company ships from Netherlands, therefore the cards took a while to arrive but they were definitely worth the wait. I went for the bundle of the hangable city scratch map and the city scratch cards and I was pleasantly surprised with how easy the scratch map was to hang. In less than ten minutes of receiving the scratch maps, I had scratched off all my visited cities and the map was proudly hanging in the bedroom.

My initial thoughts

I like how the cards feature a mixture of cities throughout Europe and I was particularly surprised to see Liverpool on the list, which heightens my desire to make the effort to visit Liverpool and other northern cities. It was also a nice reminder that there are some amazing cities here in the UK which I still need to make the effort to explore.

There are 60 included cities within the map and each city is accompanied by a scratch card, which includes some of the top attractions for that city. This is a great way to ensure that you see all the best sights when visiting a certain location and I really wish that I had these cards before I had visited certain places. Although, it gives me a good excuse to go back to a lot of my favourite places and visit areas that I overlooked, so I can feel the joy of scratching them off on my new cards!

It will likely come to no surprise to you that London was the one card with my most scratched-off sights, although even in London there are still some places that I am yet to visit and these cards are a great starting point for organising things to do whilst in different cities. Next time that I visit one of the listed cities, I will be checking the associated card as inspiration for things to see. Each card also has a handy map of the city on the back so you can work out where would be the best area to base yourself when exploring new cities. I am placing a link to these cards and scratch map below, alongside some pictures.

Scratch Trip – My Final Thoughts

Updated August 2024

Overall, I am over the moon with my scratch trip purchase and have been able to use the cards multiple times across my trips. The cards help me during all stages of my trip, including the planning stage and ensuring that I have the time to see all necessary sights. I also use the cards to identify which area is best to base my hotel in when visiting a new city. I do this by placing one of the desired sights into google maps and searching for hotels around that location.

Something that I particularly enjoy about these cards is the excitement that I get by scratching off new locations. I often find myself looking forward to getting home and seeing a new city transform from dullness into colour! In conclusion, I would highly recommend these cards to heighten and expand on your future travel adventures.

Please note that all views portrayed in this blog post are my own and I do not have any affiliate marketing set up with Scratch Trip. I genuinely believe that this is a great product for those that enjoy trip planning and documenting where they have been/things to see and do. Therefore, if you have some spare change to spend on travel itinerary ideas, I would suggest visiting Scratch Trip’s website below.
