Keys Hotel Review, Moshi – A perfect base for Kilimanjaro
If you’re heading to Moshi for a Kilimanjaro adventure, Keys Hotel is an excellent place to stay. I spent a few nights here before and after my climb, and it was everything I needed: comfortable, welcoming, and well-located. Whether you’re resting up before your trek or celebrating after, this hotel has you covered.
Warm Welcome and Friendly Staff
From the moment we arrived, the staff at Keys Hotel made us feel completely at home. They were incredibly friendly and always ready to help, whether it was answering our many pre-climb questions or making sure we had everything we needed after returning from the mountain. Coming back from Kilimanjaro exhausted but triumphant, their warm welcome and genuine interest in how we’d got on made all the difference. We were also greeted with a refreshing glass of juice which was very much appreciated after a tiring 8 days climbing.
Comfortable and Clean Rooms
The rooms were exactly what we needed before and after our climb! The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious enough to organise all our trekking gear before the climb. The beds were great, which was a huge plus for getting a good night’s sleep before setting off (and the comfortableness of the beds was even more appreciated upon our return). After spending days on the mountain, coming back to a proper bed and a hot shower felt like pure luxury!
Delicious Food and a Great Breakfast
One of the things that really stood out was the food. The included breakfast was fantastic, with plenty of variety to set us up for the day. We also had several meals at the hotel, and everything we tried was delicious. Whether it was a hearty dinner before the climb or a well-earned feast after, the quality and taste were spot on. Chris was a particular fan of the burger and chips and I still crave the steak to this day.
A Relaxing Pool Area
The hotel has a lovely swimming pool, which we, unfortunately, didn’t have time to enjoy before the climb. But after days of trekking and sleeping in tents, it was the perfect place to unwind upon our return! The cool water was just what our tired muscles needed, and it was such a nice spot to relax in the sun.
Celebrating with Kilimanjaro Beers
The hotel’s bar was another highlight. After returning from the climb, we made the most of it—sipping on plenty of Kilimanjaro beers while soaking up the relaxed atmosphere. It was the ideal way to toast our summit success and enjoy the post-climb high. Knowing that we had conquered Kilimanjaro somehow made the beer taste even sweeter!

Final Thoughts
Keys Hotel is a fantastic choice for anyone visiting Moshi, especially if you’re climbing Kilimanjaro. It has everything you need: friendly service, comfortable rooms, great food, and a relaxing atmosphere. Whether you’re gearing up for your trek or celebrating your achievement (or both!), this hotel is a perfect place to stay. I’d highly recommend it and I would happily return!
