Junkyard market: Norwich’s vibrant street food
Street food markets are one of my favourite things to explore. The array of food on offer alongside cool and atmospheric décor is a guilty pleasure of mine. Therefore, it was inevitable that I would take a visit to Norwich’s newest street food market – Junkyard market.
The unique name for this street food market was created due to the décor and layout. There are lots of quirky items displayed around the market including large VHS tapes, ski chalets and an alpine ski resort. There is also a variety of bars and street food vendors desperate to welcome you to this exclusive street food market. As far as food goes, this place is very well supplied! I had the chicken wings with a blue cheese dip, followed by a serving of plantain and my food was absolutely delicious. I also accompanied my food with a tasty mocktail, followed by an aperol spritz, whilst I enjoyed the atmospheric music and the beautiful sunshine. It’s safe to say that I felt very relaxed during my time at Junkyard Market and I would rate it very highly for the food and atmosphere. Although the location is a little further outside of the city centre, so bear this in mind if you are planning on walking here. However there is also a large car park where the market is situated, so parking would be no issue if you decide to come by car.
Overall, Junkyard Market is up there with some of my favourite street food markets and I would highly recommend a trip here. Please be advised that it is recommended to book before you arrive so that they have an idea for numbers, although booking does not guarantee a table. However, walk-ins are also allowed and I personally didn’t book but I came early enough to ensure that there wouldn’t be a problem for space. I can imagine that it gets a lot busier within the evenings, which is why booking is recommended.
