Blue Lagoon: Iceland’s surreal natural spa
I bought my tickets for the blue lagoon online from the main website and opted for the “comfort” option which included a complimentary drink from the in lagoon bar as well as two different types of face masks and a towel. I would highly recommend this option as I found it to be very good value plus the bar and the hut that serve the face masks are on opposite sides of the blue lagoon so you’re guaranteed to explore the whole of the lagoon (which is surprisingly large)! I was extremely impressed with the organisation of this company and would love to express my gratitude for how stress free and relaxing the staff and organisation of this company, makes each and every person’s experience that much better.
As you might already be aware, there is large amounts of silica in the lagoon which is known to make your hair feel stiff and hay-like if not looked after properly. I would highly recommend thoroughly conditioning your hair with the complimentary conditioner that is provided in the showers. Honestly, don’t hold back! I smothered the conditioner on every single part of my hair and left it in whilst I enjoyed my time in the lagoon ensuring that my hair was up in a bun. As soon as I left the lagoon (I spent about 2 hours in the lagoon but there is no time limit on how long you can spend in the blue lagoon and there are lots of areas to explore), I hopped straight in a shower where I washed the conditioner out before applying more and rinsing again. I honestly think that this is the best decision that I have ever made! My hair felt amazingly soft afterwards and there was no roughness or signs that the silica had affected my hair.
Overall the blue lagoon is a fantastic attraction that I believe that everybody should visit at least once in their lifetime. I would like to thank all the staff involved and of course the company for the amazing organisation of this trip. You made my day one of the best that I’ve ever had. Thank you.
